By the end of the football season, it can sometimes be hard to remember what Patriots receiver Julian Edelman actually looks like without his big, bushy, mountain-man beard. Well don’t worry, Ellen DeGeneres is here to remind us.
On Friday’s episode of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” DeGeneres offered to donate $10,000 to the Boys & Girls Club of Boston in Edelman’s name if he would let her shave his beard, which he had been cultivating all season.
“Coach Belichick has this thing that he says: ‘Put everything in the drawer and don’t worry about it until the season’s done.’ So I put my razor actually in the drawer,” Edelman said.
He agreed to let DeGeneres shave his beard and matched her donation to the Boys & Girls Club, bringing the total to $20,000.
Two minutes later, Edelman’s face seemed a few pounds lighter.
“I’m gonna sell [the beard hair] to somebody here,” DeGeneres said.
Also on the show, DeGeneres surprised Edelman with the Pete Rozelle Trophy, which he couldn’t bring with him after he was named Super Bowl MVP Sunday.
