In addition to his work on and off the field, Rob Gronkowski has added a baseball-sized dent in the Patriots sixth Lombardi Trophy to his lasting legacy in New England.

Apparently, according to a very funny video posted on the Patriots website, Gronkowski was holding the trophy during some festivities leading up to the Red Sox home opener. Several Patriots attended the game and were part of an on-field ceremony.

Guys were goofing off, and Gronkowski held the trophy up over is shoulder like a bat. No one thought he would actually swing it, but when Julian Edelman tossed the baseball, Gronkowski squared up like he was going to bunt.

Smack.

“Probably not ideal,” a chortling Matthew Slater says in the video.

It left a sizable mark and a fantastic, very Gronkowski story.
