Defensive end Chris Long, who played on the Patriots’ Super Bowl LI title team, announced his retirement Saturday.
“I can honestly say I put my soul into every minute” of an 11-year career, Long tweeted.
Cheers. Been a hell of a journey. Eleven years and I can honestly say I put my soul into every minute of it. Highs and lows. I’ve seen them both and I appreciate the perspective. Gratitude and love to those who lifted me up. pic.twitter.com/Ap8zi73Ifl

Long, 34, spent one season in Foxborough. He played for the then-St. Louis Rams for most of his career, went to the Patriots, and ended his career with a two-year stint with the Eagles.
Long is the son of Howie Long, the Pro Football Hall of Famer who was raised in Charlestown and starred at Milford High School.
