BALTIMORE — The Red Sox placed Jackie Bradley Jr. on paternity leave on Tuesday and added Rusney Castillo to the roster for the game against the Baltimore Orioles.

Bradley returned to Boston. His wife, Erin, is expecting their first child.

Castillo, 28, played one game for the Sox earlier this season, going 2 for 4 with a double against Toronto on April 9. He was optioned to Triple A Pawtucket six days later.

Castillo hit .241 with a .619 OPS in 37 games for Pawtucket. He had one home run in 145 at-bats.

Castillo has hit .265 in 91 games over three seasons for the Sox since being signed to a seven-year, $72.5 million deal.
