Red Sox rookie Andrew Benintendi, who made his major league debut Tuesday night, notched his first big league hit in the third inning of Wednesday night’s game against the Mariners in Seattle.
With the bases empty and one out, Benintendi drove an opposite-field single to left off Mariners starter Hisashi Iwakuma. Benintendi advanced to second on a two-out single by Brock Holt, but was stranded there.
Benintendi added a one-out single to right field in the eighth inning.
