This Hanley Ramirez home run might still be in orbit

Boston Red Sox designated hitter Hanley Ramirez crushed — and we mean crushed — a home run off Cubs starting pitcher John Lackey Saturday afternoon.

The bomb came on a 1-0 pitch in the bottom of the third at Fenway Park. The ball could be seen clearing the Green Monster in left field with ease.

Is it the longest home run in the majors this year? That remains to be seen. It would apparently have to best Baltimore slugger Manny Machado’s 466-foot shot that he hit Friday, which is believed to hold that record, according to ESPN Stats & Information Group.
