Red Sox outfielder Mookie Betts was named American League MVP Thursday night, and while he soaked in the moment with his family — including a newborn daughter — many teammates and other athletes took to social media to congratulate him.

The two other AL MVP finalists — Indians third baseman Jose Ramirez and Angels center fielder Mike Trout — were quick to congratulate Betts.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora, who finished second in voting for AL Manager of the Year, gave Betts a Twitter shout-out as well.

Teammates Jackie Bradley Jr and Sam Travis also took to Twitter. Bradley came up through the minors with Betts, and Travis has been an off-and-on member of the major league roster the past two seasons.

Another tweet came from Jacksonville Jaguars defensive back Jalen Ramsey, who grew up not far from Betts’s hometown of Nashville.

While rising through the Red Sox ranks, Betts made stops with Sox affiliates Lowell, Greenville, Salem, Portland, and Pawtucket. All five organizations commended him via social media.

Red Sox legend Fred Lynn knows what it takes to win the MVP award, having done so in 1975, his rookie season.

The Red Sox fired off a tweet listing Betts’s accomplishments throughout the year, and they didn’t forget his most important one: becoming a father.
