SUNDAY’S WEATHER: The Red Sox chose a good day for their shortest workout of the week, as players were relieved to come off the field with the temperature rising into the mid and upper 80s.

FUNDAMENTALLY SPEAKING: The catchers worked on throwing to bases.

PLAYER OF THE DAY: Manager Alex Cora described Tyler Thornburg’s bullpen session as the best he’s seen from the righthanded reliever dating to last spring. If healthy, Thornburg represents a potentially significant contributor given a three-pitch arsenal that allows him to attack both lefties and righties.

SCHEDULE: The Sox will have their first full-squad workout Monday, following an 8:30 a.m. organization-wide meeting (workout expected to start around 9:15). “[Monday] it’s going to get loud here. There are going to be a lot of people. Everybody’s going to be here,” said Cora.
