NESN hires anchor/reporter Kacie McDonnell

NESN has hired Kacie McDonnell as an anchor and reporter.

McDonnell, who will join the network in September, will appear on “NESN Sports Today,” “NESN Live,” and “NESN Sports Update,” the network’s three main news programs.

She comes to Boston from Kansas City, where she worked as a reporter and fill-in anchor on KSHB’s morning program. She was also a pregame and postgame host for Major League Soccer broadcasts of Sporting Kansas City games on sister station KMCI.

“We are very excited to welcome an on-air personality of Kacie’s caliber to NESN’s sports news team,” said Joseph Maar, NESN’s vice president of programming and production/executive producer, in a statement.

“Kacie brings an upbeat and engaging personality with a quick wit and passion for sports that should endear her to fans of New England sports.”

McDonnell has more big-market experience, having begun her career at WTXF in Philadelphia, where her duties included delivering pregame reports for Eagles games.
