PROVIDENCE – A woman was found dead inside a parked vehicle at Rhode Island College on Monday evening, authorities said.
Providence police responded to the campus around 6:15 p.m. for a welfare check and upon arrival, officers found “an unresponsive adult female inside a vehicle parked on campus,” according to Kristy dosReis, a police spokesperson.
The vehicle was in a parking area behind the campus’ residential village, according to John Taraborelli, a spokesperson for the college.
“The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene,” dosReis wrote in an email. “At this time, there is no indication that the individual or the circumstances surrounding her death are connected to Rhode Island College, and there is no known threat to the campus community.”
Taraborelli, in an email, wrote that detectives “along with members of the Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI), are continuing to investigate.”
No additional information was available on Tuesday morning, according to dosReis.
