Once dubbed “the nation’s “No. 1 holiday party” by the folks at USA Today, this year’s MatzoBall apparently delivered on its promise of “high-energy networking and matchmaking” for singles. The New Center for Arts and Culture had a full house for its annual Moo Shu Jew comedy night at China Pearl Restaurant. Comics included Steve Calechman, Dana Eagle, Scott Blakeman, and Lenny Marcus, while the audience included a few notables, namely New Center executive director Francine Achbar, American Repertory Theater founder Robert Brustein, “NOVA” executive producer Paula Apsell, WBUR station manager Corey Lewis, Eater Boston blogger Rachel Leah Blumenthal, Boston Jewish Film Festival board president Denise Widman, and economist Ken Rogoff.
