‘A Year by the Sea’ to start filming on the Cape

If Governor Charlie Baker gets his way and the state’s controversial film tax credit program goes away, Hollywood will likely turn its back on the Hub. But for now, movies are still getting made in Massachusetts. Next up is “A Year by the Sea,” based on the best-selling memoir of the same name by Cape Cod writer Joan Anderson. The movie, which starts shooting next month, stars Karen Allen, Michael Cristofer, Celia Imrie, and S. Epatha Merkerson. But there are still some roles to fill — all ages, genders, and ethnicities — so producers are holding a casting session on Cape Cod Saturday and in Boston on Sunday. Because appointments are required, visit www.yearbythesea.com/casting.html for details. Also, the Wellfleet Chamber of Commerce is hosting a meeting March 24 at the Wellfleet United Methodist Church to discuss what residents can expect during filming.
