Former first daughter Chelsea Clinton announced on Monday that she’s pregnant with her second child. ‘‘Next summer, Charlotte is going to be a big sister!’’ the 35-year-old tweeted, with a picture of her 1-year-old daughter with her husband, Marc Mezvinsky. ‘‘Feeling very blessed & grateful this holiday season.’’ This will make grandchild No. 2 for Hillary Clinton, the former secretary of state whose presidential campaign speeches often refer to her role as a grandmother. Baby Clinton-Mezvinsky’s maternal grandparents-to-be greeted the news with excitement, offering up good wishes on social media. ‘‘We’re so excited to meet our second grandchild,’’ Hillary Clinton wrote. ‘‘Christmas comes early!’’ Bill Clinton enthused.

Rowling on ‘Cursed Child’
A black actress playing Hermione Granger? J.K. Rowling has no problem with that. The best-selling author of the ‘‘Harry Potter’’ books has responded to mixed reactions after the cast for ‘‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’’ — a new London play featuring Harry as an adult — was announced Monday. The role of Hermione, made famous in the film versions by Emma Watson, will be played by Swaziland-born actress Noma Dumezweni. The play, based on a new story by Rowling and others, opens July 30.
