Maine Episcopal priest gets 45 days in jail

An Episcopal priest has been sentenced to 45 days behind bars after pleading guilty to mailing illicit drugs to inmates at a Maine jail. The Rev. Stephen Foote of Bremen was sentenced Tuesday in Wiscasset District Court to a year in jail with all but 45 days suspended, a year of probation, and community service. In a plea deal with prosecutors, Foote, 70, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of possession of suboxone. Prosecutors said Foote mailed suboxone to inmates he knows at the Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset. Suboxone is used to treat opiate addiction.
