Bridgeport kicking cricket teams out of park

Bridgeport has asked the two clubs that play cricket in Newfield Park to find another spot to set up their wickets. Everton Palmer, president of the Bridgeport Cricket Club, told the Connecticut Post that their ouster follows a dispute in June with a family that had put up a bounce house on the field the clubs have used for years to hold their weekend matches. Palmer said that shortly after that incident, the clubs were informed that they will not be allowed to use the park next season. City spokeswoman Elaine Ficarra said recent improvements to Newfield Park have led to more people using it, and the city wants to be able to accommodate everybody.
