At least 10 cases of enterovirus D68 confirmed in Conn.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has confirmed three cases of enterovirus D68 from the Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford, bringing the total in the state to at least 10. Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital, which reported the first Connecticut case earlier this month, said it has seven confirmed cases. Dr. Nicholas Bennett, CCMC's director of infectious diseases and immunology, said doctors suspect the virus is responsible for a number of illnesses they are seeing. He said the testing was done to help track the spread. The virus, which causes coldlike symptoms and breathing problems, has been confirmed in 40 states and the District of Columbia.
