Man dies after falling into icy Vermont river

The body of a man was recovered Saturday from the Passumpsic River in Lyndonville, Vermont State Police said. Authorities said Alex Duranleau, 22, of St. Johnsbury went through the ice near the park and ride. He was reported missing by his fiancée on Friday afternoon, after he had not shown up to work or classes at Lyndon State College. Police found his vehicle at the park and ride, footprints leading to the river, and a jacket matching the description of the one he was wearing in the snow. His body was recovered on Saturday. Police are investigating, but do not suspect foul play. (AP)
