A Rockland High School senior died on Friday during a school trip in Greece, officials said. The student, who was not named, was walking around Athens with his peers when he collapsed, said Superintendent of Schools John Retchless. The student was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The 60 students on the trip left Thursday and were scheduled to stay abroad until next Friday. Retchless is working to get the students back to the United States as soon as possible. The school is offering counseling services, the superintendent said. No additional details were immediately available.
