How did your school district do on the PARCC?

The public got its first look Tuesday at how individual schools and districts performed on the 2015 PARCC exam, just as state education officials are preparing to vote whether to dump the MCAS in favor of the new test.

Overall, a smaller percentage of students reached PARCC's "Meeting Expectations" standard than MCAS's "Proficiency" standard, the state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education said. However, the results showed a wide range of achievement.

In Belmont, for example, 89 percent of students in grades 3 to 8 either met or exceeded expectations on the English language arts test, and 81 percent did so in math. In Boston, only 39 percent met or exceeded expectations in English and 34 percent in math.

Statewide, 60 percent met that standard in English and 52 percent in math.

School districts had the choice of whether to give PARCC or MCAS this past spring as part of the state's two-year tryout of the new test.
