Hyde Park auto body shop owner pleads guilty to tax fraud

The owner of a Hyde Park auto body shop pleaded guilty to federal tax fraud charges on Monday, the US attorney’s office for the District of Massachusetts said Tuesday.

Richard Poillucci, 62, of Easton, pleaded guilty to three counts of aiding the preparation of false tax returns for failing to report about $569,367 in income generated through his company, Automotive Specialties Inc., the US attorney’s office said in a statement.

Poillucci avoided paying about $215,552 in federal income taxes by filing the false returns.

For each count, Poillucci faces a sentence of up to three years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of $250,000, or twice the gross loss or gain, according to the statement. He is scheduled to be sentenced in January.
