Seth Griffith goal evokes memories of Bobby Orr

If Bill Parcells was coaching the Bruins, he might say “well let’s not give him a statue just yet, boys,” of rookie Seth Griffith’s goal Tuesday vs. the Wild.

But Griffith’s goal in the second period certainly evoked memories of Bruins legend Bobby Orr, whose “flying goal” to win the 1970 Stanley Cup is one of the most famous in NHL history. It is immortalized with a statue outside TD Garden.

Take a look at the similarities between Griffith’s goal Tuesday and Orr’s.

Griffith was pleased with his play – he also had a goal in the first period – but was team-first in his comments afterward, something Parcells would surely approve. The Bruins lost, 4-3.

“Yeah it’s kind of hard to be happy, but two goals – obviously the win is more important. It’s too bad we didn’t have a very good third,” he said.
