The Trump administration is not callling a truce in its war with the media.
Reince Priebus, chief of staff to President Trump, said on “Face the Nation” Sunday morning that, “the press in many cases has not been doing their job in reporting the truth.”
Trump on Friday tweeted that at least some press outlets are “the enemy of the American People!”
On Sunday, Priebus said, “I think you should take it seriously,” in reference to Trump’s sentiment. “We’re talking about bogus stories. . . . and the American people suffer, so I do think it’s a problem.”
Priebus specifically criticized stories with unnamed sources, and he complained about paltry coverage of the Trump administration’s achievements in its first 30 days.
“We’ve done so many things that are noteworthy. It’s a story of accomplishment.”
Priebus said, “what we’ve been through in last 10 days is unbelieveable,” referring to the press coverage.
But Priebus said Trump supports press freedom.
“He believes in the free press, the First Amendment. He loves the constitution,” Priebus said of Trump.
Priebus also said reports of infighting among Trump staffers are overblown.
“The truth is we don’t have problems in the West Wing,” he said. “We’ve really jelled as a team. ... We get along great together.”
