Red Sox prospect Blaze Jordan, a corner infielder playing for Double A Portland, fractured his left ring finger on a play at the plate Saturday.

He was placed on the seven-day injured list Sunday, and while there is not an exact timetable for his return, he is expected to miss multiple weeks, according to Red Sox farm director Brian Abraham.

Jordan, 21, is hitting .283/.342/.414 with two homers and seven doubles as one of the youngest players in the Eastern League.

Though he entered pro ball with renowned power potential and questions about his vulnerability to strikeouts after the Red Sox took him in the third round of the 2020 draft, Jordan actually has the lowest strikeout rate (9.9 percent) in Double A this year, albeit with less hard contact than might be expected given his raw power.

Jordan, who is ranked the No. 17 prospect in the Red Sox system by Baseball America, offered an optimistic take on his injury.

“We’ll be back,” he tweeted Saturday.
