One person dead in Marlborough house fire, officials say

Authorities are investigating a fire in Marlborough that left one person dead Wednesday morning, officials said.

Several 911 calls reported the blaze at 66 Nolan Way at 8:23 a.m., and when firefighters arrived about three minutes later, they found the single-family home engulfed in flames with fire venting from the back left corner, according to the State Fire Marshal’s office.

Firefighters went inside to search the home and found one adult dead, the fire marshal’s office said in a statement. Crews brought the fire under control within about 30 minutes, the statement said.

One other resident was displaced.

“On behalf of the Marlborough Fire Department, I want to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family that lost a loved one this morning,” Marlborough Fire Chief Kevin Breen said.

Investigators believe the fire began in the first-floor living room, though the exact cause remains under investigation by the Marlborough Fire Department, the Marlborough Police Department, State Police fire investigators assigned to the State Fire Marshal’s office, and State Police assigned to the Middlesex district attorney’s office.
