Three people arrested after allegedly robbing a barbershop and barricading themselves in a house in Dorchester

A standoff in Dorchester on Thursday ended with three people arrested after they allegedly robbed a barbershop owner and several customers, before fleeing in a car and barricading themselves inside a home, according to Boston police.

A SWAT team responded to the home on Adams Street and negotiated with the three suspects, Deputy Superintendent Joseph Gillespie told reporters at the scene around 9:40 p.m.

Two of the suspects were arrested without incident, Gillespie said. The SWAT team used gas to “forcibly remove” the third suspect, Gillespie said, according to Officer Michael Torigian, a department spokesman.

As of late Thursday night, the suspects had not been identified. Charges were not available.

Police responded around 4 p.m. to 479 Blue Hill Avenue in Roxbury where the owner and people inside of a barbershop were allegedly robbed at gunpoint by masked individuals, Gillespie said.

Police found the car allegedly used on Adams Street. The suspects had fled into 86 Adams St.,Torigian said.

“I would like to say how proud I am of our officers for their restraint, their professionalism, and their de-escalation tactics in removing these three individuals from the home without any incident, any injury to anybody,” Gillespie said, according to audio of his remarks.

The investigation is ongoing.
