A massive fire destroyed a vacant mill building in Woonsocket, R.I., on Monday, according to authorities and media reports.
Woonsocket Fire Chief Robert Cahill told reporters that firefighters were able to protect nearby buildings from heavy damage as they battled the blaze. No injuries were immediately reported.
The Pascoag Fire Department posted on Facebook that it was one of many fire departments providing mutual aid.
“Tower 4, along with units from Harrisville Fire Department and Oakland Mapleville Fire Department, are now working a general alarm mill fire on Privilege Street in the City of Woonsocket, joining mutual aid companies from many other communities,” the agency wrote.
The post included photos that showed flames roaring up from the remnants of the vacant warehouse.
The property at 20 Privilege St. was listed for sale at $2.75 million.
