With pumpkin spice lattes back on the menu and sweater weather closing in, a farm in Haverhill is kicking off fall festivities with a Boston Celtics-themed corn maze.
Starting Sept. 6, locals will be able to get lost (temporarily, of course) in the towering corn stalks at Kimball Farm. The custom-designed corn maze pays tribute to the NBA champion Boston Celtics.
The corn is “taller than KP (Kristaps Porzingis) and as green as the blood that runs through this city!” a post on the farm’s Facebook page said.
This year’s design was inspired by the Boston Celtics’ 18th championship win, said Kimball Farm owner Tyler Kimball. He and his wife are “huge Boston Celtics fans” and helped dream up the design.
The 10-square-acre corn maze features three Celtics-inspired elements, Kimball said.
At the center of the maze is the number 18, mowed onto a three-leaf shamrock, celebrating the team’s championship titles. To the right, the corn is carved into a horseshoe and the outline of Lucky the Leprechaun, the team’s mascot. On the left is the farm’s name in cursive.

The farm has cut specially designed corn mazes every year since 1999, Kimball said. The corn is planted in late June and designs usually take two days to mow in.
For their 24th annual custom maze, the farm worked with Precision Mazes, a Missouri-based creative maze business, Kimball said. They assisted with creating the designs and cutting it into the maze.
“While we have done Boston sports-inspired mazes in the past, this is the first year we have designed a Celtics theme,” Kimball said. “We hope our customers and community will love the maze and have an opportunity to celebrate their Celtics pride.”
Visitors will be able to find their way through the corn maze until Nov. 3. The maze will be open from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. on Fridays, from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. on Saturdays, and from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sundays.
Tickets cost $15 for adults and $11 for children 13 and under. Active duty members and veterans receive a $5 discount. More information can be found on the farm website.
