Cooler-than-average conditions this week are a precursor of the autumnal weather that will eventually take over later next month. But for now, it’s still summer and even by meteorological standards there are 10 or so days left.
This Saturday and Sunday comprise the final weekend before a lot of kids go back to school and in some circles this would make it the last weekend of summer.
I’m expecting a lot of sunshine over the weekend with a warming trend. Both Saturday and Sunday feature temperatures of at least of 80 degrees over most areas and some spots by Sunday could get into the mid-80s.

If you’re not a fan of the humid weather, the warmth will not be accompanied by humidity this weekend. Instead, it will be quite comfortable with dew points in the 50s to near 60.
One of the things that might be a problem is not really related to the weather, but the season itself. Ragweed and other allergens are now rising to moderate to high levels and for those of you who are allergic to this type of pollen, it’s time to be sure you’re taking your medicine. With a lack of rain over the next week or longer, pollen levels will continue increasing.

Tides are astronomically high this weekend for those beachgoers looking for a place to park the blanket or chair. There will be less real estate during high tide than usual. Water temperatures are currently running about average for this time of year and will begin falling the next couple of weeks.

Speaking of falling, we’re tumbling out of maximum light rather quickly with the midday angle of the sun now 15 degrees lower than it was a couple of months ago. This weekend, our sunrises will be after 6 a.m. for the first time since spring.
