Second teen charged with murder of Dorchester man, police say

A second teenager is facing charges of murder and home invasion related to a double shooting last month inside a home in Dorchester, according to Boston police.

The 17-year-old boy was not identified due to his age. Homicide detectives arrested him shortly before 10 a.m. on Wednesday on a warrant issued out of Boston Municipal Court in Dorchester, police said in a statement.

The warrant charges him with murder, assault to murder, home invasion and carrying a firearm without a license. He was due to be arraigned in the court’s juvenile division, according to police.

The arrest came two days after Manuel Guerrero, 18, of Dorchester was arrested on similar charges. Pleas of not guilty were entered for murder, home invasion and other charges during his arraignment Tuesday in Boston Municipal Court, according to court records.

He was ordered held without bail at the Suffolk County Jail. His next court date is Oct. 11, the records show.

The teens are accused of fatally shooting Leudis Mejia Sanchez, 49, of Dorchester, on Aug. 12 inside a home at 5 Trent St.

Police responded to the home at 6:42 p.m. for a report of a person shot. Officers arrived to find two men suffering from gunshot wounds inside, police said.

The two were taken to a hospital, where Sanchez died. The other victim suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to police.
