Kenley Jansen’s season is over, and perhaps, his career with the Red Sox. The pending free agent will head to the injured list Monday with a shoulder/lat issue that has been bothering the closer for a few weeks.
“He’s been dealing with the shoulder and recovering is not the thing right now for him,” said manager Alex Cora. “He’s been struggling with that.”
Jansen came into the first game Sunday in a non-save situation and recorded a scoreless frame. Jansen collected 27 saves this year, his lowest mark (minus the 2020 COVID year) since 2014.
