A wandering moose took an unexpected plunge into a swimming pool and was rescued by first responders Thursday morning in Bedford, N.H., officials said.

At approximately 8:45 a.m., Bedford Police and Fire Departments responded to a home on Riddle Drive for a report of a moose found wading around in a swimming pool, police said.

“I want to remind residents that moose can be very dangerous animals due to their size, and we appreciate that residents called us this morning to assist with this situation,” said Bedford Police Chief Daniel Douidi.

First responders arrived to find an adult moose trapped under a cover in a swimming pool, police said. They helped the hefty animal break free from underneath the tarp, police said.

In a video of the incident, the moose is captured walking out of the pool on its own and prancing back home into the woods after responders removed the pool cover.

The moose walked away into a wooded area after leaving the pool. First responders took no further action but advised any residents to contact authorities if they have a moose in trouble on their property.Bedford Police

No further action was taken, police said.

“We’re pleased that no people or animals were harmed in this incident,” Douidi said.
