Luckenson King Pablo, 31, of Chelsea was arrested on murder charges in the death of Melissa Janvier Pablo, 32, also of Chelsea, Hayden’s office said in a statement released early Friday evening.
He is due to be arraigned Monday in Chelsea District Court on a charge of first degree murder. More details will be released during the arraignment, prosecutors said.
Melissa Janvier Pablo, was shot around 8:45 a.m. near the intersection of Central Avenue and Marginal Street while walking with at least one other person and in front of several witnesses, including a police officer who heard the gunfire and rushed to her aid, police said.
“Losing someone so young to such a shocking act of violence is heartbreaking for family and friends and for our entire community. I offer my deepest condolences to all those who knew and loved Melissa Pablo,” Hayden said.
The shooter, later identified as Luckenson King Pablo, ran off before driving away, Hayden said.
Melissa Pablo was rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital, where she later died, police said.
Around 1:30 p.m., her estranged husband was taken into custody in Everett and was questioned in connection with the shooting, authorities said.
“This was a fast-moving investigation involving State and Chelsea police with an important assist by Everett police. I thank all for their solid work to ensure that Mr. Pablo will answer for this brutal crime,” Hayden said.
