Man found in underwear near Charlestown train tracks taken for medical evaluation, police say

A man was taken to a local hospital for a medical evaluation Sunday night after he was reported running around a set of train tracks in Charlestown, officials said.

Around 7:30 p.m., police responded to a report of a person running around in his underwear near the intersection of Medford and Polk streets, according to Officer Michael Torigian, a Boston police spokesperson.

Officers found the man, whose identity was not released, and he was taken to a hospital for evaluation. Officers then found a vehicle in the water off the Little Mystic Boat Ramp on nearby Terminal Street, Torigian said. Police could not confirm whether the vehicle belonged to the man who officers found.

Boston Fire Department dive team members investigated the vehicle and did not find anyone inside, police said.

No injuries were reported, and the scene was clear as of about 8:30 p.m. No further information was immediately available.
