Truck Day is Feb. 3, with the first workout for pitchers and catchers at Fenway South on Feb. 12. The first full-squad workout is set for Feb. 17.

The Sox host Northeastern in an exhibition game Feb. 21 at JetBlue Park. The Grapefruit League season starts Feb. 22 against the Rays at Port Charlotte, Fla.

Deals to make

Thursday is the deadline for teams to exchange salary arbitration figures with any unsigned players. For the Red Sox, that involves Kutter Crawford, Jarren Duran, and Tanner Houck.

All three are eligible for the first time, with Crawford and Duran having earned “Super Two” status based on service time.

Duran is projected to receive approximately $4.9 million, Houck $4.5 million, and Crawford $3.5 million.

If no agreement is reached before the deadline, the sides will exchange figures and be scheduled for a hearing.

Martin to Rangers

Chris Martin followed through on his plan, signing a one-year contract with the Texas Rangers.

The 38-year-old righthander said near the end of last season that he wanted to play one more season, ideally closer to his home in the Dallas area. The Rangers obliged.

Martin was 7-2 with a 2.16 ERA and five saves over 100 appearances for the Red Sox the last two seasons. He was the primary set-up man for closer Kenley Jansen and emerged as a leader among the pitchers.

The Sox were interested in bringing back Martin but his desire was to stay closer to his wife and children.

“As the kids get older, it’s tougher to be away,” Martin said in September.
