Since Tuesday, wildfires have continued to tear through the Los Angeles area, leaving devastation in their wake. At least 24 lives have been lost, hundreds more have been injured, and countless homes and businesses have been reduced to ash.
The coastal Palisades Fire, the largest of the fires, was at least 11% contained as of Sunday morning, but has moved inland toward Brentwood and other communities near the Getty Center and UCLA, prompting the evacuation of more than 150,000 residents. Meanwhile, the Eaton Fire in Altadena, which is 27% contained, continues to burn alongside several smaller blazes.
Officials have warned that the death toll is likely to rise as search teams comb through flattened communities with cadaver dogs.
This gallery captures the courage of firefighters, the destruction of various neighborhoods, and the resilience of people standing against the backdrop of the flames.
