Gas station and convenience store supplier Global Partners LP said this week it will move its headquarters from Waltham to Newton in late 2026, with a 12-year lease for 100,419 square feet.
Global Partners has leased a portion of three floors at 275 Grove St., a three-building complex adjacent to the Riverside MBTA Green Line station, and will house more than 600 office workers there.
As of last September, the company operated 306 convenience stores and owned, leased, or supplied 1,700 gas stations along the East Coast from Maine to North Carolina. In 2023, it acquired 64 Houston-area convenience stores through a joint venture with ExxonMobil.
The move to Newton allows Global Partners to expand several teams, including its office of data and analytics, sustainability, culinary innovation, and real estate ventures, said Max Slifka, the company’s senior vice president of real estate, in a statement.
“The move and associated buildout underscore our commitment to investing in our people, capabilities, and future growth,” Slifka said.
The 275 Grove St. property is owned by Boston-based real estate firm Greatland Realty Partners and investment manager Barings, a subsidiary of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co. Greatland and Barings bought Riverside Center in 2023 for $117.5 million, half the $235 million its former owner, life-science real estate developer Alexandria Real Estate Equities, had paid for the property in 2020.
Greatland has since invested more than $16 million in building upgrades, including modernizing common areas and improving building systems, said Phil Dorman, the company’s managing partner, in a statement. The property’s amenities include a full-service cafe, fitness center, and flexible conference space.
