A boozy, creamy treat that now has maple syrup and local rum

The new Rum-Soaked Maple Walnut flavor for Crème De Liqueur, a spirit-laced ice cream custard.Creme De Liqueur

Fans of Crème De Liqueur, a spirit-laced ice cream custard, are now treated to a new winter flavor: Rum-Soaked Maple Walnut. Crafted in Rockland, the brand partners with local distilleries to create their boozy cold confections. For the latest, the ultra-creamy adult dessert is blended with Vermont maple syrup and infused with Boston Harbor Distillery’s Lawley’s New England Dark Rum.

Crème De Liqueur was founded nearly four years ago by college friends Elizabeth Nash and Nisreen Galloway. Nash, who creates the recipes, developed the brand in Wisconsin, while Galloway grew the company here and sources spirits from local distilleries, like Boston Harbor, Bully Boy, and Short Path. There are more than a dozen other flavors, including Chocolate Brownie Bourbon, Pistachio Amaretto, Blueberry Gin Smash, Espresso Martini (with vodka), and Brandy Old Fashioned. You can’t go wrong with any. And no need to worry about getting too tipsy — there’s only 2 percent alcohol in a pint. The new flavor is available at Formaggio Kitchen, 268 Shawmut Ave., Boston, 617-350-6996; Spirited Gourmet, 448 Common St., Belmont, 617-489-9463; Fells Market, 326 Weston Road, Wellesley, 781-235-1555, and others. Check cremedeliqueur.com, for a list of retailers where the other flavors are sold.
