2025 Emmy Awards: Five nominated shows worth streaming

Noah Wyle in "The Pitt."Warrick Page/MAX

It’s a big weekend for TV fans, as the 77th Prime-time Emmy Awards arrive on Sunday night to celebrate the industry’s top shows and stars. In a special edition of our what to stream guide, here are five nominees worth binge-watching ahead of this year’s ceremony.

‘Adolescence’

A breakout hit on Netflix earlier this year, “Adolescence” is in good position to win the Emmy for outstanding limited or anthology series, earning 13 nominations in total. The heart-wrenching miniseries revolves around a British husband and wife whose teen son Jamie (Owen Cooper) has been arrested for killing a girl at his school. Stephen Graham (“Boardwalk Empire”) turned in a powerful performance as Jamie’s father, Eddie, and is up for outstanding lead actor in a limited or anthology series or movie. Graham also co-created and co-wrote the series with Jack Thorne, and the duo is nominated for their writing on the show as well. Available on Netflix.

‘Andor’

While “Andor” is up for 14 Emmys, it’s a travesty that the show isn’t nominated in more of the major categories, although it’s in the running for outstanding drama series. The prequel to “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” is the best piece of media to come out of the far, far away galaxy in a long time, offering a grounded tale that doesn’t shy away from tackling timely (and timeless) themes. Diego Luna also deserved an Emmy nod for his role as the show’s titular rebel hero Cassian Andor, a complicated figure who’s willing to get his hands dirty to fight the Galactic Empire. Available on Disney+.

‘The Pitt’

Former “ER” star Noah Wyle brushed off his old stethoscope earlier this year for “The Pitt,” HBO Max’s hit hospital drama. Earning 13 Emmy nominations, including a nod for outstanding drama series, “The Pitt” is an intense look at the lives of doctors, nurses, and patients at a fictional emergency room in Pittsburgh, following all of the heartbreaking (and sometimes humorous) encounters that can pop up during a 15-hour shift. While he never won an Emmy during his “ER” days, Wyle will get another shot this year, as he’s up for outstanding lead actor in a drama series. Available on HBO Max.

‘Severance’

“Severance” season 2 had a lot of people trying to predict Lumon’s nefarious plans this winter, and all that buzz has led to early Emmys success: the show leads the field with 27 nominations this year. Apple TV+’s fan-favorite series is poised for a big night on Sunday, as “Severance” is up for outstanding drama series, with many of its stars also nominated. Adam Scott is up for outstanding lead actor in a drama series, while Britt Lower is nominated for outstanding lead actress in a drama series. Meanwhile, costars Zach Cherry, John Turturro, and Mr. Milchick himself, Tramell Tillman, are all going head-to-head in the outstanding supporting actor in a drama series category. Available on Apple TV+.

‘The Studio’

Apple TV+ is also dominating the comedy field, as “The Studio” scored 23 Emmy nominations, with the show in the running for outstanding comedy series. Taking a bite out of Hollywood, “The Studio” satirizes the behind-the-scenes squabbles that can happen on major motion pictures, with Seth Rogen (up for outstanding lead actor in a comedy series) leading the way as bumbling studio executive Matt Remick. And while there are plenty of big cameos each episode, the main cast is pretty stacked too, with co-stars Kathryn Hahn, Ike Barinholtz, and the legendary Catherine O’Hara all nominated in supporting categories. Available on Apple TV+
