The Fairway philosophy is to keep staff, much like clients, happy for the company to thrive. Employees rave about the camaraderie and the company’s dedication to its core values of humility, responsiveness, and service.
View from the top: “Our CEO, Steve Jacobson, always says, ‘Loans are what we do, not who we are,’” says regional senior vice president Amy Slotnick. “People here really care about each other and about the company, and it’s evident in everything we do.”
Happy customers: Senior loan officer Michael Dunsky was getting ready to go to a closing recently when a problem arose with the clients’ mortgage. He reached out to the executive team, which resolved the issue within 40 minutes. The closing went through on schedule. “We solved a problem they didn’t even know they had,” Dunsky says.
Doing good: Charitable work is more than an afterthought at Fairway, say employees who are gratified to be working for a values-driven organization. The company’s Fairway Cares program has sent more than 14,000 care packages requested by employees for clients, community members, and others dealing with illness, trauma, or the death of a loved one. It has also funded more than 400 service dogs for veterans through its American Warrior Initiative. “It’s really about doing right above all else,” says senior mortgage consultant Kathleen Caddell.
