Boston Legacy FC is just six players away from reaching the league-minimum 22 for its inaugural season with the signing of Amanda Allen to a two-year deal.

The club announced Friday that Allen will join the Legacy as a free agent from the Orlando Pride, where in 2023 she became the club’s youngest-ever signing at age 18.

“They want to build something [in Boston] that is centered around family, and that is huge for me,” Allen said in a release. “I’m very close with my family, and I understand how crucial it is to feel like you’re comfortable in a space, feel like you have teammates and support around you at all times.”

Allen, who hails from Mississauga, Ontario, made a name for herself in the Canadian youth national system, representing Canada in the 2022 CONCACAF Women’s U17 Championship and the 2022 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup. She made her senior national team debut at age 17 in a friendly against Brazil in November 2022.

“Amanda is a young player with a very high ceiling,” Legacy general manager Domè Guasch said in a release. “She brings a range of experiences that have helped shape her game, and she arrives highly motivated to make an impact in the NWSL.”

Allen played 11 games with Orlando before going on loan to Lexington Sporting Club in the USL Super League. She played nine games there in 2024 before suffering a torn labrum in her shoulder, which ended her season.

After recovering from that injury, Allen in July went on loan to Halifax Tides FC in the Canadian Northern Super League, where she made 11 appearances and scored one goal.

Allen cited Legacy coach Filipa Patão as one of the major factors in her decision to sign with Boston.

“She’s very invested into young players,” Allen said. “I’m so excited to work with her, and she’s somebody who I really want to play for. I really want to show her what I’m capable of, and show Boston what I’m capable of, as well.”

The Legacy will play the majority of home games during their inaugural season at Gillette Stadium as renovations continue on White Stadium, but due to scheduling conflicts brought on by the men’s World Cup, the team will also play a select number of games at Centreville Bank Stadium in Pawtucket, R.I.

The Legacy’s home opener is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. on March 14, 2026, at Gillette Stadium. Venue assignments for the remaining 29 games will be made when the league releases the full schedule.
