US women’s hockey’s gold-medal victory over Canada was a ratings hit

Team USA’s 2-1 overtime victory over Canada in Thursday’s gold-medal showdown at the Milan Winter Olympics was the most-watched women’s hockey game on record, according to NBC.

The broadcast averaged 5.3 million viewers on USA and Peacock, with a peak audience of 7.7 million viewers in the 3:45-4 p.m. window during overtime.
