BREAKDOWN: Wilyer Abreu’s RBI single and Brendan Rodgers’s two-run single highlighted a four-run third inning at Hammond Stadium on Wednesday. Jarren Duran had two hits and Andruw Monasterio drew two walks. On the mound, Garrett Whitlock’s 13-pitch perfect frame was a highlight. Justin Slaten followed with a scoreless inning in which the Twins’ Brooks Lee singled but was erased by catcher Carlos Narváez, who threw him out when he tried to steal second.
NEXT: The Red Sox host the Rays at JetBlue Park on Thursday on a big day of pitching: ace Garrett Crochet and closer Aroldis Chapman making their Grapefruit League debuts. Steven Matz, of the 2025 Red Sox, will start for Tampa Bay. The game will not be televised.
