Before MLS’s primary transfer window closed on Thursday, Marco Mitrovic added another player he coached while in the United States system to the Revolution.

Forward Marcos Zambrano is being loaned to New England by Real Salt Lake for the remainder of 2026, in exchange for the Revolution’s third-round pick in next year’s MLS SuperDraft.

The 21-year-old is yet to appear in MLS, making 13 appearances since 2022 in its top developmental league, MLS Next Pro. He spent two and a half seasons during that time playing in Portugal, most notably with Benfica’s under-23 team.

Zambrano returned stateside last season and had seven goals in 11 matches for Real Monarchs, Salt Lake’s Next Pro team. He made 12 appearances for the United States under-20 team while Mitrovic was its coach, including in all five matches (scoring once) of the Under-20 World Cup last fall.

Born in Ecuador, Zambrano’s family came to the United States in 2020.

“Marcos is a player whom I have thoroughly enjoyed working with over the past several years,” Mitrović said in a release. “He is a promising young American striker who has shown his ability at the youth international level. We are excited to see his continued development here in New England.”

New England will have the option to permanently acquire Zambrano via trade. It also can terminate the loan before the end of the year when the league’s secondary transfer window opens in July.

The Revolution (1-3-0, 3 points) begin a three-game homestand in Foxborough on April 4, when they host CF Montreal.

Legacy move start times

The Boston Legacy moved up the start times for three of their next five games at Gillette Stadium.

Boston’s matches April 3 against San Diego, April 29 against North Carolina, and May 12 against Orlando will kick off at 7 p.m. All are weeknight starts that had originally been scheduled for 8 p.m.

Still seeking their first goal after a pair of shutout losses, the Legacy host Utah at Gillette at noon on Saturday.
