A 61-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash Saturday on Interstate 95 in Sidney, Maine, State Police said.
A second motorcyclist was injured.
Adam Robinson, of Sangerville, Maine, and a second motorcyclist were traveling together in the highway’s northbound lane, police said in a statement.
Around 5:30 p.m., the pair drove their motorcycles around another vehicle, and when they merged back into the right lane, Robinson’s motorcycle appeared to have a mechanical defect that caused the brakes to seize, police said.
Robinson was thrown from the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The second motorcyclist, a 28-year-old man from Carmel, was unable to avoid the crash and was also thrown from his motorcycle. He was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, police said.
Anyone with information related to this crash is asked to contact Trooper Keenan Blier at 207-973-3700, extension 9.
