DETROIT — Red Sox left fielder Roman Anthony left Monday night’s game against the Tigers in the second inning with what the team said was right wrist discomfort.

Anthony checked his swing on a foul ball in his first at-bat during the first inning and was attended to by head athletic trainer Brandon Henry. He stayed in the game and grounded into a fielder’s choice.

Anthony went to left field for the bottom of the inning but was replaced by Masataka Yoshida in the second inning.

The 21-year-old has hit .229 with a .675 OPS this season. He has one home run and only five RBIs.
