Sunday’s Child is a weekly column featuring a child currently in foster care awaiting adoption.

Hanna is an enthusiastic and happy 11-year-old whose lovely smile can light up any room.

She has a natural appreciation for the world around her and finds a lot of joy in spending time outdoors. One of her favorite places to visit is the beach, where she enjoys exploring, taking in the scenery, and collecting seashells.

Hanna is also caring and eager to help others. She enjoys being involved in group projects and events and takes pride in knowing that she has contributed. She is motivated by encouragement and does her best when she is given opportunities to participate and feel that her contributions matter.

Hanna thrives when the people around her recognize her efforts and encourage her to keep trying new things. With her cheerful personality, beautiful smile, and willingness to lend a helping hand, Hanna has a lot of joy to share with the people around her.

She would benefit from a family who will encourage her interests, celebrate her accomplishments, and give her opportunities to be an active and meaningful part of family life.

Can I adopt?

If you’re at least 18 years old, have a stable source of income, and room in your heart, you may be a perfect match to adopt a waiting child. Adoptive parents can be single, married, or partnered; experienced or not; renters or homeowners; LGBTQ+ singles and couples.

As an adoptive parent, you won’t have to pay any fees, adoption from foster care is completely free in Massachusetts.

The process to adopt a child from foster care includes training, interviews, and home visits to determine if adoption is right for you. These steps will help match you with a child or sibling group that your family will fit well with.

Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) can give you guidance and information on the adoption process. To learn more about adoption from foster care visit www.mareinc.org. Reach out today to find out all the ways you can help children and teens in foster care.
