The days are getting shorter. Darkness is falling earlier, and two well-known independent businesses are going dark, too. But there’s also good news, including the arrival of a well-known cafe in Back Bay and swanky sushi conveniently located near TD Garden.

Closings: Saus at Bow Market will sign off in December, according to a social media farewell from the business. Tanya Walker and business partner Chin Kuo opened the original Haymarket-area Saus (33 Union St.) in March 2011, luring fans with crispy Belgian frites and an array of dipping sauces. It closed in 2024.

“Between our Boston location and this one, Chin and I (Tanya) have been doing this for 15 years. It’s been a privilege, a wonderful dream, an emotional rollercoaster. We grew our tiny business from one restaurant to two.

Opening our Bow Market location was the most fun. Instead of being one small restaurant, on our own, fighting to be relevant, we were now part of a community. … We made real friendships, learned a lot from the other businesses, and made some core memories. And as sad as we are to close this chapter of our lives, it’s time to move on. We have new dreams to chase. Who says you can’t start over in your 40s?” Walker wrote.

The Somerville location opened in 2018. Stay tuned for an official final-fry date.

The Waltham branch of Bánh Mi Oi (1097 Lexington St.) has closed after a three-year run, says co-owner Yeanie Bach.

Co-owner Phi Pham is known for a prolific Instagram account, with which he shares candid reflections on the ups and downs of owning a small business. In July, a post went viral after he asked, “Should I just close everything?”

Happily, that answer is no: Bach says the company plans to focus on a Dorchester-based sister business, Yeanie’s, serving burgers and shakes. A second location of Yeanie’s, in West Roxbury (1761 Centre St.), opened in September.

Openings: The Back Bay branch of Daily Provisions (501 Boylston St.) is slated to launch on Wednesday, Nov. 4. It’s the latest Boston expansion for Danny Meyer, who runs Union Square Hospitality Group, known for New York-based restaurants like Gramercy Tavern and Shake Shack. Expect all-day breakfast, crullers, picnic-worthy sandwiches, and, yes, provisions. There are other locations in Harvard Square and Seaport.

Lastly, something for the sports fans: Black Bamboo is now open in the West End (57 Canal St.), serving cocktails and sushi in the old Bodega Canal space, a few blocks from TD Garden.
