Police officers who fatally shot woman in Bath, N.H. identifed by AG’s office

Boston Globe | New Hampshire

Three police officers who fired their guns in a fatal shooting this month in Bath, N.H. were identified Thursday by New Hampshire Attorney General John M. Formella’s office.

State Troopers Brandyn Humberstone, and Juan Vargas, and Lincoln Police Sergeant Kris Lowe, were involved in the Oct. 8 shooting that killed a woman, the office said in a press release.,

Jeanne A. Seto, 36, died from multiple gunshot wounds after police stopped her when she was allegedly armed and driving to confront a family member she had a dispute with, the Globe reported.

Officers deployed a spike strip to end the pursuit near the intersection of Route 112 and Route 302 in Bath. Law enforcement officers allegedly found her armed with a handgun when they approached her car, the Globe reported.

“During the interaction Ms. Seto suffered gunshot wounds...” Formella’s office said earlier this month. The officers were wearing body cameras and the footage was being investigated, his office had added in that statement.

However, “the exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation,” Formella’s office said Thursday.

Humberstone has been a law enforcement officer in New Hampshire for two years and Vargas for three, both working for State Police in that time, officials said.

Lowe has worked as a law enforcement officer in the state through the Lincoln Police Department for nine years, Formella’s office said.

An incident report and whether their use of deadly force was justified is set to be released when the investigation is finished, according to the statement.

No information was released Thursday.
