Rumors: True story, or just a red herring? The Wall Street Journal recently reported that Manhattan’s iconic Katz’s Delicatessen will soon expand into Brooklyn. Owner Jake Dell also cited Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, and Boston as cities he’d consider opening in next. Naturally, food blogs and deli lovers began speculating with excitement.

But perhaps they should hold their tongues. According to Dell, “I think it’s a little premature. We don’t have a location,” he says.

There is some hope, though.

“Boston would be a great market. It has a great burgeoning food scene, and there’s something wonderful about Boston. I went to school there for four years,” says the Tufts alum.

In the meantime, at least we have Mamaleh’s.
