Pedro Pascal will not be taking part in Commonwealth Shakespeare Company’s staged reading of “Death and the Maiden” after all. The actor, known for his work “Narcos,” can’t make it to Monday’s reading due to the shooting schedule of the Netflix series. Instead, Joel Perez, who’s currently in the Tony award-winning “Fun Home” on Broadway, and Nael Nacer, who’s in the Lyric Stage Co.’s Mr. Burns,” will join Chilean actress Cote de Pablo at the CSC’s “Theatre in the Rough” event, a script-in-hand reading series. . . . The theatre company held its annual gala there other night, and there were a few familiar faces at the benefit hosted by Ashley, Wesley, and Paul Karger, and Sam Mazzarelli. Among the 200 or so guests at the Mandarin Oriental were Oscar winner Chris Cooper and his wife, Marianne Leone Cooper, “Monk” star Tony Shalhoub and his wife, “Days of Heaven” actress Brooke Adams, Babson College president Kerry Healey, Jo Frances Meyer of Boston Landmarks Orchestra, and WGBH’s Jared Bowen.
